Before I head out to dinner...

Here are the layouts I did with it. (I couldn't stop at just one, lol.)

So tomorrow I begin my final - we're having a "Climate Convention", in which groups of six come up with questions and pose them to other groups. I'll let you know how that goes!

Wait - why was I taking a break?
However, good things have come out of my laziness. I've made some super nice digi-friends. I got LOTD (layout of the day) at Enchanted Studio Scraps on Friday. (For the second layout one post down.) I participated in a treasure hunt in a digital scrapbooking designer's store...and I won! Woohoo me! I won a $15 gift card to Mandy Mystique's Store. So I went and bought practically her entire store since she was having an AMAZING sale.
Here's a layout using one of my new kits, Mandy Mystique's Under the Sea. (Yep, Trudy, I've resorted to stealing pics off of your blog!) Template is from Pixie Perfect Designs' Lefty Template Set, available here.

I really need to get on that research paper due tomorrow (even though it's only 4-5 pages, double-spaced). So, Happy Daylight Savings Time Change Day, and I'll see everyone at home soon! (I fly in at 10:04 pm on Wednesday, in case you want to surprise me at the airport or anything...)

A bit of a break...

Two sets finished!
Our field trip this morning went very well...it was in the 60s, sunny, and very windy all day. There were no clouds in the sky, which you can see in these pictures. The sky here is so amazingly blue. (Note: these pictures are not Photoshopped at all; this is really what the sky looks like!)
And this adorable little girl is Pearl. She's my professor's dog, and she's come with us on field trips a couple of times. She's still a puppy, so she is super curious, and loves hiking around with us.
Because it was so sunny, I did get a tiny bit sunburned today. It feels strange, because I haven't had a sunburn in so long! Tomorrow is a research day, so I don't have class. (I love 3 day weekends!)

One week...
But here's what I got done over the past couple of days.
I really like them all.
Tomorrow I have my last class field trip. It's just a half day trip, and we have our field exam final, which should be easy enough, just some rock identification. On Monday we had an optional field trip (which I went on, of course!) to the National Ice Core Laboratory in Denver. It was in a federal compound, so we all had to present our IDs and go through security.
In the lab they store, sample, and analyze all of the ice cores that they've gotten from drilling in Antarctica. Some of the cores go back 750,000 years. (Well, the two oldest are the EU core, which goes back 500,000 years and the Russian Vostok core, which goes back 750,000. The US is currently in the process of drilling at WAIS-D to get a core from 1 million years ago. Of course. Because we have to be the best, you know!)
It was a beautiful day on Monday, setting all kinds of records for the warmest temperatures ever, (over 70 degrees) and we were going into an ice laboratory! We got all bundled up to go into the working lab, with temps of around -12 degrees. Then we went into the storage room, where all of the ice cores are kept. It was -36 degrees. I have never been that cold in my life! So in the course of a few minutes, my body went through a 100+ degree drop in temperature. It was pretty amazing.
And what's with the one week reference? Well, I'll be home for Spring Break in one week! So if you want to hang out with me (and you know you do), I'll be home from March 11 - 22.
